Strokestown Golf Course


Strokestown Golf club was formed in 1995 and affiliated to the GUI in the same year. In 2001 the club moved to its present location, which is one of the most scenic parkland club's in the West of Ireland.

The Golf Club is situated about 2km east of Strokestown and about 20km west of Longford, in the townland of Bumlin, along the N5 Dublin- Westport primary route.

New Rule 18-2, 18-3 & 20-1 When a player's ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment.          The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 & 20-1.

USGA & R&A Rule Changes.                              In 2019 the USGA & the R&A propose a series of Rule Changes as per Golf Channel March 1st 2017

Strokestown Golf Club Juniors program.

Membership for under 12s cost just 25.

If you are over 12 but under 18 then membership is 55.

Your membership includes:

       Unlimited access to the course*.  You can play all day every day.

       Private lesson's with a PGA Professional **

       Access to junior club and inter-club golf competitions


*Members under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

**The Club, thanks to Sliabh Ban Community Benefit Fund, have set aside funds to run the tuition section of this initiative.  The Club reserve the right to modify the arrangement if the offer becomes oversubscribed.

Captains Drive-in

Captains Drive-in was held on Sunday 12th @ 2pm and in perfect weather conditions


Demac Cup Competition


The Annual Demac Cup has now ended and the winner was Coman Neary and in second place Gerry Callaghan. Martin Kelly was the Seniors Wiiner.

The Captain and Club would like to thank Pat McGonnell for his kind sponsorship of this event.

Royal Birkdale 9 Hole Competition had to be postponed due to weather. This competition has now been scheduled for weekend 1st and 2nd April.

In 2017, The R&A will run a Nine-Hole Championship which will culminate in a final played over the back 9 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club on the morning of Saturday 15 July 2017. - See more at:
